Disorders of Probability Prediction in Schizophrenia
I. M. Feigenberg · Soviet Psychology · 1974
By probability prediction we mean the ability to compare incoming information about a present situation with information stored in memory about similar past experiences and, on the basis of all this information, to construct hypotheses about future events, ascribing some probability to them (for a more detailed discussion of probability prediction, see I. M. Feigenberg's book The brain, the mind, and health [Mozg, psikhika, zodorov'e], Moscow, 1972). From this point of view, conditioning is the establishment of a prediction with a probability very near to unity; the body invariably responds with an action appropriate to the predicted situation.
