Consistency and Splittings

Complementary subspaces consistency between the linear system \[ ( * )\qquad Ax = b \] and the linear system $Bx = c$ is defined and studied. This concept is applied to the consideration of iterative schemes for solving (*) obtained through various splittings of the matrix A.
