On the development of Maxwellian Circuits
K.K. Mei · 2008
Summary form only given. This talk starts with the inception of the theory of Maxwellian circuits when the author was a graduate student. At that time, he attempted to derive the differential equations of the current densities, but failed. The idea got a new life, after he succeeded in the formulation of the MEI (measured equation of invariance), forty years later. MEI method was a simple idea intended to terminate finite difference/finite element meshes close to the object boundary. It was so successful that the termination could be done on the boundary, and finally lead to the realization of a dream of forty years of finding the differential equations of the current, which leads the concept of Maxwellian circuits. The author tells his story of personal frustrations and elations in this research.
