Customers need to have tools available that allow them to configure products quickly and easily without error and with minimal effort. Enter the product configurator. The product configurator is a key element of software in front-end systems. A product configurator will accept an input of customer requirements and interpret it into a buildable product configuration by creating the build specification for a customer requirement configuration. It requires a fixed, predefined set of components and the ability to describe the customer's needs supported by criteria and rules for making an appropriate selection.
