The research of character recognition algorithm for the automatic verification of digital instrument

In this paper, image recognition technology applied to the testing of coal mine methane alarming device automatic verification system. Through the digital image recognition of the pictures taken from the methane detecting instrument to realize the automatic verification function of machine vision instrument, not only the efficiency and accuracy of the recognition can be improved and a lot of consumption on manpower and material resources can be saved. In this paper, digital image recognition system is composed of image capturing, transforming color image into gray, binary converting and denoising, characters segmentation, template matching and so on. This research collects a group of high-definition images as a template and carries out the matching experiment of a large number of acquired instrument images and the template, and then results show the rate of recognition exceeds 99.9% and meets the requirement of the application in engineering.
