Received level detection accuracy in DS‐CDMA system

Abstract In cellular mobile communications, the mobile station must detect the received level so as to determine the position of the mobile station. In a broadband DS‐CDMA system, RAKE reception is usual since the paths can be separated. Thus, the detection accuracy should be improvable by the path diversity effect. This paper considers a DS‐CDMA system, and the accuracy of the received level detection is analyzed theoretically and by computer simulation for the case in which both path diversity and antenna space diversity are applied. © 2002 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
