The need for saving energy through improved heating, ventilating and air conditioning (HVAC) control is great. Tools for conserving energy at the local site and providing interaction within a total system are important. The centralized system is a management tool enabling this large network to operate on a rational centrally coordinated basis. It will eventually monitor environmental conditions for the tenth largest U.S. school system. Like accounting, production, and automation, energy is entering the age of central computer control. The impact of the microprocessor revolution to management and development of large energy management systems is now beginning.
