Cradle to grave – security failure to the very end

These days the majority of organizations, whether in the public or private sector use computers for the storage and processing of information relating to their business or services, their employees and their customers. In addition, most individuals now also use personal computers in their own homes and whether intentionally or inadvertently, they often store personal information on those computers. It is apparent that most organizations and individuals are still unaware of the potential information that can be stored on the hard disks that the computers contain, and have not considered the consequences of that information falling into the wrong hands when the equipment is disposed of.
