Sequential search approach to fixed-rate entropy-coded quantisation

A new fixed-rate entropy-constrained vector quantisation scheme for stationary memoryless sources based on a sequential search procedure is described. It is shown that the proposed algorithm results in a substantial reduction in complexity, while the degradation in performance is negligible.
