Real-time image despun system based on FPGA

Xiangping Zeng · 2010

A method of electronics for eliminating image rotation is proposed based on FPGA in view of the problem that image rotation brings to automatically recognizing and tracking targets. Through rotating the original image for a corresponding angle in opposite direction and re-sampling the image by bilinear interpolation method, an image after rotation-compensation can be obtained. A real-time image despun system with XC2S300E-6FT256 is developed. Experimental results show that this system not only can fulfill real-time eliminating rotation of 256×256×8 bit gray scale image successfully, but also has advantages of high processing speed, small volume, low cost, high reliability and flexible use. The range of angle of despun is to ±360°,the least angle resolution of despun can reach 3′ and the maximum pixel error is less than one pixel.
