Effects of intersensor correlation on data fusion
Stelios C. A. Thomopoulos · Proceedings of SPIE, the International Society for Optical Engineering/Proceedings of SPIE · 1994
The effect of intersensor correlation (ISC) on data fusion is discussed. ISC may have a detrimental effect on the performance of data fusion, in particular if the sign of the correlation coefficient is unknown and unaccounted for. Numerical studies in the literature verify the ISC effects. Using the Gaussian distribution, an analytical framework is developed to explain how ISC affect the fusion performance. Means for reducing the ISC in the fusion are also discussed.
