Efficient factorization methods for list decoding of codes from curves

s Chofu-shi, Tokyo 182-8585, JAPAN e-mail: sakataaice. uec . ac . jp Abstract - We propose some efficient methods of factorization over function fields for the second stage of Sudan and Guruswami-Sudan list decoding of RS codes and algebraic-geometry codes. Our methods are based on an observation that the factorization problem can be reduced to solving systems of linear equations over some extended finite fields as well as on some extensions of fast algorithms for solving Wankel (or Toeplitz) systems of linear equations.
