Dominant and non-dominant terms in the energy transfer equations for a fully ionized plasma

The energy transfer equations for a fully ionized plasma are obtained including, in the language of Chandrasekhar, the dominant and non-dominant terms. The effect of the non-dominant terms is investigated and shown in several cases to be significant. Comparison is made between these exact results and previous approximations which retain only the dominant terms. The regions of validity of these approximations are rigorously defined. Cases in which quantum effects occur are also treated.
