Grammaires électroniques et ambiguïtés

Currently, computerised spelling correction leaves much to be desired. A couple of examples from French demonstrate the difficulties involved : "les longues heures qu'elle a marché" and "elle fait généralement les marches(és)". How can there be recognition that, in the first sentence, march(é,es(és)) is a verb whilst in the second it is a noun ? Even more difficult, how can the correct ending be added to each of these words ? Furthermore, there is the problem of absent or incorrect diacritics to be dealt with. In this paper our objective is to present automatic and interactive grammars which solve these problems.
