A real time non-recursive digital filter is described which has a sampling rate of 10 kHz and can operate with up to 256 coefficients. It can accept and output signals in analogue and digital form and operates using an internal crystal or external clock. Stop-band rejection is of the order of 50 dB Coefficients can be chosen which exhibit cither sine or cosine symmetry. True and inverse frequency responses can be obtained without changing coefficients. It is anticipated that the instrument will be applied principally to problems of real-time speech filtering and analysis, or to fast, off-line, processing of signals of a more general nature.
