Biometrics in Germany

Of all European countries, Germany is arguably the one with the most visible biometrics industry. It has grown out of an especially powerful Information and Communications Technology (ICT) sector – Germany's largest industry, which accounts for 40% of the country's macroeconomic growth. The country has the largest ICT industry in Europe and the fourth largest worldwide (behind the US, China and Japan), with a market volume that was worth €130bn in 2009.
