Convergence of voice telemetry and data on IP/VPNs

A. Wilson · 2003

Two apparently unconnected themes are emerging within the telecommunications provision market and the control/telemetry equipment market: IP based Virtual Private Networks (IP-VPN) IP enabled control and telemetry products. The telecommunications industry offers several types of IP-VPN service, aimed primarily at the corporate data and multimedia network market. The convergence of telemetry and control hardware has led to an increase of IP enabled ICA equipment. The paper addresses the potential for drawing on these two themes in order to merge the corporate data and telemetry networks of a large utility onto a single converged IP based network. (22 pages)
