Quantitative effect of gritty contaminants on the sensitiveness of high explosives to initiation by impact. II. A non‐parametric variant of the bruceton procedure
Henry J. Scullion · Journal of Applied Chemistry and Biotechnology · 1975
Abstract Aspects of the quantification of the effects of additives, intentional or otherwise, are briefly discussed in the light of some unpublished work. Addition of gritty particulates causes not only a fall in insensitiveness but also (due to population distortion) a widening in the fiducial limits of any estimate made of that insensitiveness. To cope to some extent with this increased dispersion, i.e. to ascertain with known confidence whether small additions (sensitising or phlegmatising or both) have altered the level of insensitiveness, a simple and economic “non‐parametric” variant of the Bruceton procedure is described.
