Measurement of the High-frequency Base Resistance and Collector Capacitance of Drift Transistors†

A biased thermistor is used to provide a variable radio-frequency resistance in Turner's circuit for the measurements of rbb'cc. A simple circuit modification permits separate determination of rbb'cc. The effect of stray emitter-collector capacitance on the measurements is analysed. Measurements on transistor typos 2N247 and 2N384 are presented which illustrate this effect.
