Blended Threats: A New Era in Anti-Virus Protection

We live in a new era of blendedthreats, worm viruses, and sev-eral new breeds of maliciousmobile code that are more dangerous thanever. Such viruses no longer simply damageuser files, but can rapidly attack companynetworks, deface Web sites, and create dis-tributed denial-of-service attacks. A goodexample was the worm virus Nimda thatcaused billions of dollars worth of clean-upcosts in the fall of 2001.
