This session will review the state of the art of microprocessor development from the standpoint of technology, software, and systems considerations. The papers are admittingly biased toward a software audience. Some less than obvious pitfalls of developing microprocessor software while using less than adequate software tools will be described. Methods of trading off hardware and software in microprocessing systems to minimize system cost will be presented.
