An adaptive circular (text) input for handheld devices

To improve the text input performance on handheld devices, an on-screen keyboard that offers an easy and fast method of entering text with a pen or a finger, was developed. It has an adaptive predictive ability according to personal word usage of the user, context and syntax rules. To facilitate visual searching, frequently used characters are presented to the user in different key sizes and color contrasts according to their relative probabilities. A user testing has indicated that the developed keyboard could improve the user performance better than the on-screen Qwerty keyboard.
