DSN Performance Dashboards
Timothy T. Pham, Jason Liao · SpaceOps 2008 Conference · 2008
A set of dashboards were recently developed to better characterize the performance of the Deep Space Network (DSN). The web-based, at-a-glance dashboards help engineering and operations personnel to visual ize complex data sets and to discern trends and patterns quickly. The drilled-down displ ays permit in-depth analyses by domain experts. In the past, manual ad-hoc processing of the data made trending analysis of system health difficult and time consuming. The new automated data-mining process, wherein the results become available at the end of the track, i mproves timeliness and ease of data analysis. The new information helps the DSN assess how well it meets commitment to mission customers. It also facilitates troublesho oting on anomalies encountered. Key performance metrics such as system noise temperature, link margin, data accounting and configuration setup time for each tracking pass are presented. Methods used in processing these metrics are described.
