SIGGRAPH '91 workshop report
David M. Oliver · ACM SIGGRAPH Computer Graphics · 1992
IntroductionThis two day workshop was held July 28-29, 1991 during the ACM SIGGRAPH '91 conference in Las Vegas, NV.Its purpose was to bring together individuals working in computer graphics, distributed computing and computer networking to discuss issues and opportunities in the development and deployment of distributed computer graphic systems. The premise of this workshop was that (1) many distributed computer graphics applications, designed for or adapted to existing networks, compromise function or interactivity under the limitations of currently deployed wide area networks, and (2) future distributed application paradigms (especially those that employ computer graphics) and the deployment of new network technologies are closely connected, and both should be designed with this relationship in mind. The workshop was attended by 14 people, representing academic, government and commercial organizations. This workshop followed the joint SIGGRAPH/SIGCOMM Workshop on Graphics and Networking organized by Dr. Ralph Droms and Dr.
