Playing mastermind logically

I was intriqued by Mahadeva Rao's paper in SIGART #82 on an algorithm for playing mastermind, and its Pascal implementation. In this note I suggest a simpler algorithm for playing mastermind, and describe a miniature Prolog implementation of it.
