doses of chlorpromazine intravenously had an initial reduction in high pressure that was followed by a severe pressure drop and a fatal outcome.We feel like Dr Young and colleagues that the hypotensive effect of phenothiazines, to which group chlorpromazine belongs, is not well known among physicians, and we once again would caution against too high initial doses of these drugs when used in emergency treatment of severe hypertension.
