Comparison of iterative pressure solvers for turbulent flow over hills
Thomas J. Allen · Atmospheric Science Letters · 2007
Abstract This article discusses the effectiveness of a number of different iterative solvers for the solution of large (sparse) systems of linear algebraic equations. Specific interest is placed upon the behaviour of the methods when applied to the problem of a neutral atmospheric boundary layer encountering a three‐dimensional hill. Here the behaviour of the iterative solver as the flow develops is of primary interest since it can significantly affect the amount of time required to perform a computer simulation.
