Error correction in PCM/IM data transmission over an optical fibre link

Cyclic codes are widely employed for error detection and correction in the transmission of digital signals. The conventional methods invariably employ flip-flops for realizing cyclic codes. This paper describes an alternative way for their realization using combinational logic circuitry.
