On Upper Bounds for Variances in Stochastic Approximation

Sufficient conditions for convergence of both the Robbins–Monro and Kiefer–Wolfowitz procedures are investigated, with emphasis on the variances and second moments of observation. The subsequent choice of design is compared with previous results.
