On relaxation of jacobi iteration for consistent and generalized mass matrices
Andy Wathen · Communications in Applied Numerical Methods · 1991
Abstract In time‐dependent finite‐element calculations a ‘mass matrix’ arises. It is thus necessary to solve or approximate a matrix system at each step even for ‘explicit’ time integration methods. In this manuscript we analyse the efficiency of Jacobi‐like iteration for solving such matrix equations which arise when the Galerkin or Taylor‐Galerkin methods are used.
