Digital rights management (DRM) technology aims to distribute digital contents to consumers in a controlled manner that can protect the copyright of digital contents. In order to meet consumer's expectations, DRM approaches and related services and applications upon which they are based should coexist in an environment that supports interoperability. In this paper, we propose a Digital Rights Management system architecture based on ChinaDRM metadata schema; The approach supports import and export different types of rights license, and also provides the rights transfer capability, so that it can achieve a certain level of interoperability which is proved by a practical distance education project.
