Comments on ‘Design of reduced-order optimal estimators directly in the frequency domain’

The derivation by Hippe (1989) of a frequency-domain Riccati equation for a reduced-order Kalman filter was somewhat lengthy. It is shown that this derivation can be considerably streamlined by simple arguments.
