The development of computerization in Hungarian society

The paper traces the development of use of computers in Hungary from its beginning in the late 1950s to the present day. It comments on the early difficulties arising from the use of incompatible systems and from the lack of an adequate telecommunication system, and on the problems of establishing computer education. The paper concludes with suggestions for the future.
