The volume rendering code Srend is designed for visualization of computational fluid dynamics simulations which use Cartesian grids, and it is designed to be compiled within the application for in-core rendering. Srend was embedded in three codes: Piecewise Parabolic Method (PPMstar), Cloud Model 1 (CM1), and Weather Research Forecast model (WRF). Results show modest rendering overhead, fine quality imagery, and high potential for scaling. When embedded in a code, Srend produces immediate, quality imagery, and this capability can sharply reduce data output & storage requirements.
