The power of partial tanslation

Paul Tarau, Bart Demoen, Koen De Bosschere · 1995

A programming language translation framework and the implementation of the C-ification of Binary Prolog are discussed. The technique can be seen as an automatic specialization with respect to a given program of the traditional instruction folding techniques used to speed up emulators. The full details and performance analysis of the C-ification of a continuation passing Binary Prolog engine are described for which large write-mode sequences and the absence of a call-return mechanism make the framework particularly well suited.
