Gagliardo-Nirenberg imbeddings and DiPerna-Majda sequences

Abstract A uniform positivity assumption on the mixed derivative of the stream function is shown to imply L2-compactness of DiPerna-Majda sequences for two-dimensional incompressible flow. A related ‘compact positive cone’ result is shown to hold for Gagliardo-Nirenberg imbeddings.
