Stepwise Construction of TLA and a High Return on the Investment Upgrade of the Hematology Transportation Line

I reported on the introduction of Laboratory Automation System (LAS, shown in Figure 2) at LabAutomation’98, in San Diego. Three years have passed since this LAS introduction, so I would like to report our experience of the improvements related to the hematology line (four Coulter Gen*S), and the fruits of the LAS introduction from the experience of our three-year operation. We got a certain result in terms of operation from this LAS introduction, but at the same time we had some hardware malfunctions. We especially had problems in the hematology line such as: 9 mechanical trouble of the IDS Gen*S connection unit 9 instability of Gen*S caused by the use of the special sampling point; its measurement result was even lower than the measurement result of the normal sampling point 9 the delay of development of the Coulter Slide-maker which we had planned to use
