Local correlations and uncertainties in one-mode systems

Local quantities which describe correlations in position and momentum and also uncertainties (noise) in position and momentum are introduced. They obey uncertainty relations, which forbid both local correlations and local uncertainties to be small at the same time. Examples which elucidate the meaning of these quantities are discussed.
