Hydrophone Design for a Receiving System in which Amplifier Noise is Dominant

Ralph S. Woollett · The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America · 1962

The transducer parameters which are of most importance in determining the merit of a hydrophone for a receiving system in which amplifier noise is dominant are described. Disagreement is expressed with a recent statement by P. M. Kendig that transducer efficiency ultimately determines the signal-to-noise ratio for this type of receiving system.
