Optical Videodisc technology

The Philips and MCA Optical Videodisc 1,2 System will be discussed from a systems point of view. First, the unique attributes of the system will be examined, and then a short discussion will be given of the technology involved, i.e., mastering, replication and playback. Special applications, including possibilities for digital storage and combined video-digital storage, will also be discussed.
