Entanglement in the biexciton cascade and the effect of pure dephasing
Pierce Munnelly, Alexander Carmele · Proceedings of SPIE, the International Society for Optical Engineering/Proceedings of SPIE · 2012
The biexciton cascade within semiconductor quantum dots is known to be a useful source of polarizationentangled photon pairs. An analytical solution in the weak-coupling regime for quantum-state tomography matrix elements, i.e. the two-photon correlation function, is presented. It is demonstrated that with the inclusion of pure dephasing and considering degenerate exciton levels, the entanglement is not affected, and a convenient formula to calculate the degree of entanglement in an experiment is derived.
