End-to-end encryption across multiple bearer networks
Troels Pedersen · 2003
The NSK 200 secure GSM/DECT telephone makes use of the Tiger® platform for secure mobile communications from Sectra. With its modular design, the Tiger® platform provides support for multiple existing bearer services, as well as means to upgrade to future bearer services as these become commonly available in the public networks. Late fall 2002, Sectra completed a demonstrator project for the Swedish defense, which meant extending the capabilities of the Tiger® system even further. The outcome of the project - a small wireless handheld demonstrator device called Mobile Crypto - is based on the same Tiger® platforrn as its high-assurance NSK 200 and Crypto 710 siblings. However, it is considerably smaller, it has a new user interface and it makes use of Bluetooth™ technology to connect to various bearer networks. The Mobile Crypto conceptual study aims to display the potential of upcoming mobile network technologies and its implications to defense and government users. The presentation is given in the form of a workshop and aims to give principal as well as hands-on examples on how a mobile security device can be operated within the NATO user community. (2 pages)
