AN AUTOMATIC PROBE TRANSPORT TO THE EYE FOR ULTRASOUND
Ernest J. Giglio, Ronald R. Meyers · Optometry and Vision Science · 1969
A system is described which is capable of horizontal forward movement, of sensing contact with the eye, and of limiting overtravel to 0.001″. The entire trip from time of actuation to return to its resting position is accomplished in 0.1 sec, the average time of the blink reflex. The present application is for carrying an ultrasonic probe to a previously aligned eye. A dwell time of 10 milliseconds provides an adequate period for photographically recording the display of the echoes from the various acoustic interfaces of the eye.
