The communication of plans in different media
Andee Rubin · ACM SIGART Bulletin · 1978
Discussions of the task of plan recognition are often carried out without explicit consideration of the medium in which the information is presented. Some researchers talk of inducing a plan from a sequence of observed actions, others of figuring out plans as a participant in a conversation, still others of understanding character's plans in a story. The analysis presented here focuses on the medium differences among these experiences in an attempt to pinpoint what clues exist in each medium for plan recognition.
