A co-ordination framework for distributed financial applications

John A Keane · Concurrency Practice and Experience · 1999

This paper presents the design and development of a co-ordination framework that enables a distributed, heterogeneous environment to be used as a single integrated system. The design has been motivated by the requirements of financial applications: in particular by a computationally intensive actuarial system that for large schemes requires computing and data resources. The framework is structured into two levels: an interprocess communication layer for application programmers, and an underlying communication management layer. The envisaged distributed environment includes MPPs, SMPs and workstations, connected via LANs and WANs. Copyright © 1999 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.
