Grid Service Based on GIMP for Processing Remote Sensing Images

Despite the fact that several initiatives are applying grid technologies to the remote sensing computing, the deployment of proposed solutions on a large scale is not yet a reality. First we identify the former solutions. Following the conclusions and the advances in grid technologies, we propose a practical solution for remote sensing computing based on freely distributed tools. A test case is also described in which the software prototype is used to detect river bed changes
