With the enlargement of power grid scale, more and more high power devices connect to the network, frequent start of these high power equipment always cause voltage surge in the power grid, Voltage surge affect the normal operation of power grids, So, The accurate detection of voltage surge has important significance. The traditional fault detection methods for voltage surge focus on periodic fault component , the action time of voltage surge is short , voltage surge contains very much non-periodic component , therefore ,the traditional fault detection methods for voltage surge are not efficient .In order to improve the voltage surge detection efficiency, a new algorithm combining discernibility matrix and information entropy for the power grid failure detection is proposed. The algorithm through the fault information discernibility matrix and fault information entropy, and the combination of utilization of the resolution of the faulty matrix the discriminatory power to fault attributes in the discernibility matrix of the frequency as the basis of fault detection. Experimental results show that this algorithm can more quickly and accurately completed grid surge intelligent fault detection.
