Microcomputer-based image analysis system for quantitative area measurements

A microcomputer-based video analyzer system has been developed to obtain area information from a variety of different sample types. Most programs are written in basic to analyze optical information with a conventional video camera and frame grabber. Intensity information from the image is used to automatically obtain area information, rather than the operator-directed approach used in many digitizing systems. Real-time operator modifications of the digitized image are possible, as well as image storage and retrieval and graphic display of the results.
