Our great reliance on technology has brought with it an increasing level of accountability for protecting information resources from malicious exposure or damage. The best approach for knowing how critical a condition is was summed up by Lord Kelvin: “When you can measure what you are speaking about and express it in numbers you know something about it”. With this is mind we can see that organisations today need to undertake a quantitative assessment of security.
