Digital interface for remote control of a Cary 14 spectrophotometer

A general purpose interface has been employed to digitize data from a Cary 14 spectrophotometer, transmit data to a PDP-11/20 laboratory computer, and operate the spectrophotometer remotely under program control. A powered bidirectional bus approximately 50 m in length connects the two instruments for communication of data and commands.
